Short version: Dana Loesch appeared at the town hall last night — the same one where Marco Rubio humiliated himself — on behalf of the NRA. Despite an intense and spirited debate, nothing is likely to change because Donald Trump is our President and the NRA gave Donald Trump $30 million in his last campaign, and Donald Trump thinks he’s going to run for re-election, and he’s going to need another $30 million, so he’s still going to advocate for stupid things like teachers carrying concealed weapons to school, which sounds like a goddamn recipe for disaster.
But whatever: Dana Loesch—seen posing on her book cover with an AR-15—appeared, and afterward, the NRA thanked her on Twitter like so:
.@DLoesch thank you for being the voice of over 5 Million #NRA members. pic.twitter.com/WDz7vujXfM

You’ll notice that the GIF in that thank you features Leslie Knope from Parks and Recreation, who would never, ever say thank you to the NRA (I don’t even think Ron Swanson would say thank you to the NRA). As such, Parks creator Mike Schur asked the NRA to remove that tweet. Amy Poehler had a message for them, as well.
Hi, please take this down. I would prefer you not use a GIF from a show I worked on to promote your pro-slaughter agenda.

Also, Amy isn't on twitter, but she texted me a message: "Can you tweet the NRA for me and tell them I said fuck off?" https://t.co/YXSdzCdvdd
And Parks and Rec’s Adam Scott and Nick Offerman weren’t standing for it either.
Hey @nra please stay the fuck away from Leslie Knope. https://t.co/Lr2HCeN7qp

.@NRA @DLoesch our good-hearted show and especially our Leslie Knope represent the opposite of your pro-slaughter agenda - take it down and also please eat shit. 🇺🇸 https://t.co/Ar2YF4yoic

Meanwhile, one of the survivors of the Parkland Shooting, Emma Gonzalez — who has been an amazing advocate for gun reform this last week — used a Parks and Recreation GIF in response to a Michelle Obama tweet in a way that I’m sure Amy Poehler would appreciate.
