With the Kavanaugh-Ford hearing set to take place shortly, and the news cycle set to churn over again making anything I write here useless and outdated in about 90 minutes, let’s just briefly hit the political bullet points this morning, which will allow all of us more time to dread the inevitable:
— If you haven’t watched Trump’s press conference from last night yet, don’t. It was pointless. He rambled and raved, he could not string a coherent thought together, and he made so many staggeringly idiotic statements that it, in effect, rendered the entire thing useless.
Here’s a timeline of the press conference, in which he also called a reporter from Kurdistan, “Mr. Kurd,” and threw George Washington under the bus.
Timeline of the #TrumpPressConference :

10 min: Really? George Washington. Come on!
15 min: Did he just say Mr. Kurd?!
30 min: Let the woman finish her damn question. 😡
45 min: How did we get to Elton John?
60 min: #25thAmendmentNow

The takeaway w/r/t to Kavanaugh hearing:
Finally, @realDonaldTrump answered how his personal experience w/ allegations impact his opinion on Kavanaugh: “It does impact my opinion. I've had many false charges. So when you ask me if it affects me with respect to Judge Kavanaugh absolutely because I've had it many times.” https://t.co/7sucY6Yv3H

An additional allegation, this one from 1998, also surfaced last night, but the Senate Judiciary Committee is basically going to ignore it:

Late last night, just to muddy the waters, two men (2!) claimed that they — and not Brett Kavanaugh — assaulted Christine Blasey Ford.
The Senate Judiciary Committee just sent out a timeline describing how they responded to the allegations against #SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh. It appears to indicate they've been in touch with two men who believe they had the "encounter" with Christine Blasey Ford pic.twitter.com/4cHn4j1DXw

You know who could clear that confusion up, right?
If two people both came forward to say they were the one who assaulted Ford along w Mark Judge, wouldn't you…want to talk to Judge about that?

I think that pretty much covers it. Despite multiple allegations from other women, everything seems to be riding on Christine Blasey’s testimony this morning. Her opening statement is a powerful one, but she will not be judged by Republicans on the substance of her words, but the way in which she delivers them.

Good luck, Dr. Blasey. No matter what happens this morning, we believe you.
