Dustin Rowles wants you to believe that he’s never heard of Nate Bargatze. Which certainly seems plausible. I mean, while Bargatze is one of the better comedians to break through over the past few years, it’s not Dustin’s job to know who’s who in the world of comedy, that’s someone else’s problem.
But still, when Dustin talked on this week’s Podjiba like he had no idea who Nate Bargatze was, that still felt like it rang false, somehow. Like there was no way Dustin would be that unplugged, given the general amount of time that Dustin spends on the internet (also, you know, #Dustinlies).
And then I found this (screenshot below so you don’t have to click, and/or for when Dustin takes the incriminating link down).
That’s right, the release of Nate Bargatze’s first hour-long Netflix special, The Tennessee Kid, was highlighted on this very website in 2019!
Now, I anticipate that some of you might point out that this blurb is clearly the logline from Netflix, or maybe that the post in question was written by Tori and not Dustin. But do you really expect me to believe that Dustin would allow this to be published without his authorization?
All I’m saying is it doesn’t add up.
Anyway, over the course of the rest of the podcast, we got a rolling start into our Survivor discussion, Dustin talked about Five Nights at Freddy’s (not a TV show, but on Peacock) and Lessons in Chemistry on AppleTV+, as well as the show he watched “just for himself,” Bosch: Legacy on Amazon Prime!
Also covered: the return of Hulu’s Letterkenny spinoff, Shoresy, and the most recent happenings on Loki on Disney+, which we may or may not continue to watch.
Finally, we end with another shocking Dustin revelation that manages to be very silly and make total sense somehow. Listen (or skip, I guess?) to the end to hear his tale, only on this week’s Podjiba! Still available everywhere podcasts are, including below.
