As promised, the Academy asked Chris Rock to host next year’s Oscars following the Will Smith slap, and he’s already turned them down. He recently told a crowd in Phoenix that “returning to the award ceremony would be like asking Nicole Brown Simpson ‘to go back to the restaurant.’” So, yeah, the Academy dodged a bullet.
