It would be reasonable to expect a book called The Hangman’s Daughter to be about the hangman’s daughter. Instead, Oliver Pötzsch’s book is about the hangman and the hangman’s daughter’s boyfriend investigating child murders. It was good, with historical details that didn’t get in the way of the mystery, but it wasn’t what Lumenatrix was looking for. Have you read the sequel? Does the daughter ever become a protagonist?
