There's Something Fishy Going on with Netflix's 'Cancellation' of Kevin Spacey's 'House of Cards'

Happy Indictment Monday! YAY! Ohmaaaan, I don’t think it’s polite to point and laugh at others who are experiencing hardships, but I just have to say to all in President* Trump’s orbit:

So, here’s the story on House of Cards. Netflix announced today that it was ending the series after next season’s sixth season, sort of kind of but not really citing Spacey’s “troubling” behavior. But, as Newsweek reports, they had ALREADY planned to end the series next season, and the announcement is not linked to Spacey’s behavior (in fact, they’re already working on spin-offs). In other words, Netflix didn’t do shit in response to the allegations, except — as Jezebel learned — check in with the cast and crew to ensure they felt “safe and supported” on a day when Kevin Spacey wasn’t on the set? (Why wasn’t he on the set? It’s his goddamn show?) Also, the response shouldn’t be, “Oh, well, I guess we will go ahead with our plan to end the series after next season.” The response SHOULD BE, “That motherfucker is fired and we’re going to move ahead with our spin-off ASAP. It’s called, Claire Gets Shit Done: The Untold Story of How Women Have to do Goddamn Everything Around Here.” (Jezebel)

Oh, and Spacey has also had his International Emmy yanked. (Vulture)

There aren’t a ton of celebrities (also “celebrities”) who’ve really gone all-out for Halloween, so far. Maybe they’re saving it all up for tomorrow night? - (GFY)

Roger Stone (who, you guys, seems TOTALLY not unhinged) was booted from Twitter for abusive behavior. But, gosh, he seems so nice! - (Buzzfeed)

Soooo, I guess Selena and The Biebs are hanging out together again and The Weeknd dude, Abel, is not cool with it. You know what? I’m trying REALLY hard to care about this, but I just can’t do it. Sorry. - (Celebitchy)

Shooter McGavin did not have a great weekend. Turns out, being a D-List celebrity doesn’t get you out of a DUI. - (Dlisted)

Emily saw the ending coming, but still got the feels. (Have tissue handy) - (Popsugar)

Could Courtney be getting her wish? Are Jenny and Chris truly back together again? I mean, he’s going to her show in D.C., that feels telling, doesn’t it? - (LG)

OOooOOOhhh spoooopy! NASA has released creepy-ass sounds recorded in space! h/t THEasscrackbandit - (Newsweek)

Shirley Jackson knew that adults and grown ups are afraid of different things. In The Lottery and Other Stories, Kitkat found that Jackson’s stories are about the menacing mundane. "Are you deeply concerned that your best buddy’s mom might turn out to be a condescending racist? Shirley Jackson has a story for that." What are you afraid of? (Cannonball Read 9)

Lin-Manuel Miranda keeps upping the celeb selfie game. (Seriously - if you’re not watching The Good Place, go watch The Good Place!)
