The 'Roseanne' Cast May Be Rebooted Into Another Show
Oh fuck off, Johnny Depp. (Lainey)
With Andrew Lincoln leaving The Walking Dead, Norman Reedus is expected to get a big pay raise to carry the show, and he’s gonna need it, as he and Diane Kruger are expecting. Poor Pacey (RIP). (Celebitchy)
Jeff Goldblum has gone full Shatner. (Dlisted)
Harvey Weinstein has officially been indicted on rape charges. (The Guardian)
Look: Kim Kardashian isn’t exactly the person I would consult for counsel on prison reform, but as I said earlier, if we get prison reform, I don’t care who is behind it, Kardashian or Charles Kushner.
She’s not just racist. She’s just awful.
And in case you haven’t seen it yet, here’s the Ambien manufacturer’s response to Roseanne: “People of all races, religions and nationalities work at Sanofi every day to improve the lives of people around the world. While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication.” (Deadline)
And my favorite Ambien tweet today:
“We must build a world where everyone is treated with equal respect and opportunity, no matter their race, creed or sexual orientation.”— Patton Oswalt (@pattonoswalt) May 30, 2018
— David Duke tweeting on Ambien
Cool. So we legit thought this was real for a sec. Because 2018.
Meanwhile, Bryan Fuller has a suggestion for how to replace Roseanne, and I think you guys might be interested. (FSR)
However, ABC may have another idea in mind. They don’t want to continue Roseanne without Roseanne Barr because she’d still get money because she gets royalties from the characters. However, ABC has John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert et. al, under contract already, and since they’re already being paid, there’s talk of creating a new series for them, like a Goodman and Metcalf project. (Uproxx)
I know exactly who can write it.

Roseanne is an important story in our world, and worth covering because it feels like a rare win for the good guys, but let us not forget about what’s going on at the border. Here’s a heartbreaking piece that details what happens when immigrants are incarcerated en masse and their children are taken away from them. I’ll just add, too, that I heard on NPR today that kids as young as four years old have to plead their own asylum cases without their parents and without legal assistance. What kind of horrific system is this? (The Intercept)
And yes: We should also definitely mention that the death toll in Puerto Rico was 72 times higher than the government’s official count. (Shakesville)
Why are White Men so angry? (Very Smart Brothas)
I didn’t post this yesterday out of respect to TK because he hates this song, and for good reason: It’s the second most white privileged song ever (behind Jackson Browne’s “Mexico,” a song about Mexico by a musician who admits in the song that he’s never been). But, put the lyrics aside, and it really is a good song, and Weezer! (Pitchfork)
Also, I am losing it at this. How is this not the Onion? And that picture!
Archaeologists working at Pompeii say they have found the remains of a man who survived the initial explosion of Mount Vesuvius in A.D. 79 — but was crushed by a massive rock. https://t.co/O71VdBcFOG pic.twitter.com/V7yBuXWPyo— NPR (@NPR) May 30, 2018
While Black-ish wasn’t allowed to air its National Anthem episode, Queen Sugar sure as hell was. (Shadow and Act)
Lucy Parker has become a favorite among the Cannonball Read kissing book aficionados. Her third book, Making Up was released this week. Three lucky Cannonballers had a chance to review it early. They all found it very good though not a classic, but as alwaysanswerb says, "it’s my view that a slightly weaker Lucy Parker is still better than most romances I’m likely to read this year." Have you read one of Parker’s contemporary romances yet? (Cannonball Read 10)
