The GOP Is Really Pissed Off At ... Pete Davidson?
Eleven people were murdered in a synagogue last weekend. A Trump supporter sent bombs to two former Presidents, a news network station, and numerous Democratic leaders. The Georgia Secretary of State opened up an investigation into his opponent for Governor, citing no evidence. There’s a white nationalist running for reelection in Iowa, and the President is threatening to overturn the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, but sure, GOP. Why not spend your time going after a comedian for making fun of the way a Republican candidate looks. (USA Today)
Honestly, I’m kind of with Rebecca on this, too.
The GOP getting so aggro about Pete Davidson saying Dan Crenshaw looks like a “hitman in a porno.” That’s not an insult! I would KILL for someone to tell me I look like a hitman in a porno.— Rebecca Pahle (@RebeccaPahle) November 4, 2018
I’ve been in wretched wretched pain the past couple of weeks with a pinched nerve in my back (I’m on some meds now, so I can move without screaming! Yay, progress!) so I think it only makes sense that I read Jodi’s Ranker piece about Christopher Duntsch, the surgeon called Dr. Death, who maimed (and killed) his patients during routine back surgeries! I am SMRT! - (Ranker)
Justin Timberlake has a book out. In a shocking surprise, it’s about him. WHO COULD HAVE GUESSED? Annnnyway, OtherLainey has some opinions about it and its author. (I’d read her book about JT!) - (Lainey)
Only a couple more days of progressively more desperate pleas to vote this week. I’m not sure how much more we can ratchet things up after this one. Amber, our lovely sunshiney Amber Ruffin, has had it. She’s gonna’ murder Liberty (the kitten) if you DON’T FUCKING VOTE! - (Vulture)
White women, for the love of god, do not fuck shit up again this election! - (Raw Story)
Yet another artist’s music that the Trump team didn’t get permission to use for his propaganda rallies.
Not for much longer…me nor my people would ever be at or around one of those tragic rallies, so thanks for the heads up philip! https://t.co/dRgRi06GrJ— Rihanna (@rihanna) November 5, 2018
Last week Will Ferrell was out knocking on doors for Stacy Abrams in Georgia, and that was fantastic! But then, the Heavenly clouds parted and OPRAH stepped into the light. You know it’s serious when OPRAH comes to campaign! - (Celebitchy)
Some of the ladies from Orange is the New Black were photographed at the Women’s Media Awards and while there were some great looks, Danielle Brooks seeing Maxine Waters is such a fantastic picture! - (GFY)
Look, we can make fun of Millenials all we want about avocado toast, but that shit is tasty and I’m not ashamed to admit it! Do I need a Christmas ornament to commemorate it? Maybe. - (Popsugar)
The Bieb supposedly got a tattoo on his face (raise your hand if that surprises you) in honor of his wife. However, it doesn’t really look like much of anything except maybe a tiny scar. (raise your hand if that surprises you.) - (Dlisted)
Based on reviews from other Cannonballers, Jen K knew Yaa Gyasi’s Homegoing was going to be good, but she was still surprised. "I was completely blown away by this novel, and how elegantly Gyasi plotted this family epic, showing how the slave trade shaped two different countries." Have you read this award-winning debut novel? (Cannonball Read 10)
For Halloween, the braintrusts at an elementary school in Idaho dressed as the border wall and a different braintrust there dressed up with ponchos, sombreros, maracas, and fake black mustaches. These are the ones entrusted to teach the youth. Cool, cool, cool. - (The Hill)
How anyone can look at these pictures of the children traveling from Honduras and think that their parents’ journey is anything but one of desperation? - (Reuters)
The caravan walked about 30 kilometers yesterday. They were greeted by the town with food, water and a movie.— Paola Mendoza (@paolamendoza) October 31, 2018
Kids were finally able to laugh as Coco played on the big screen.
I’m headed to the caravan tomorrow. I want to tell the real story of their resilience + their power. pic.twitter.com/XoAgjDNizK
