It’s been a really bad month for Tim League, the Alamo Drafthouse, and the Austin film scene. Not only was Devin Faraci rehired and then allowed to resign, but Drafthouse owner Tim League handled the entire situation poorly. Then, hours before Fantastic Fest was set to start on Thursday, Ain’t It Cool News was dropped as a sponsor and the co-founder of the festival, AICN’s Harry Knowles, was disinvited. Thanks to the fantastic reporting of Kate Erbland, on Friday, we found out why: A 20-year-old sexual assault allegation surfaced against Knowles, and as often happens in situations like these, other women came forward with their own stories about being sexual harassed by Knowles, most notably Britt Hayes over on Screencrush. Worse still? Twenty years ago, Tim League did little other than to tell the woman to stay away from Knowles. (Indiewire)

As I’m sure everyone knows by now, because who DOESN’T live and breathe Karjennerashian nonsense, Kylie (one of the younger Jenner girls - I don’t know which one; don’t ask me) is pregnant. There is talk on the internet (SHOCKING, I KNOW) that maybe, just maybe, Kylie is actually pregnant with Kim and Kanye’s baby. It’s absolutely fascinating to me how much I don’t give a shit about this. - (Dlisted)

Many were wondering whether Meghan Markle would attend Prince Harry’s Invictus Games. She did! She didn’t get to sit with Harry, but still. - (GFY)

Rihanna is serious and hands-on with her Fenty Beauty make-up line. It’s not just something she’s slapping her name on. - (Lainey)

Well I guess I’m going grocery shopping tomorrow tonight right now. - (IB)

Remember Audrina Patridge? She’s getting a divorce. Sounds like the guy she was married to turned into an abusive asshole after their baby was born. - (Celebitchy)

So far this seems to only be in LA and the Chicago area, but hopefully it will expand. Starting in October, you’ll be able to take your Amazon returns to a Kohl’s store and they’ll return them for you - free of charge! What what?! That’s a great idea! - (TV)

How cute is Tracee Ellis-Ross? SO cute! I don’t know why it’s 73 questions and not 75 or 50 or whatever, but it doesn’t matter. No matter how many questions, it wouldn’t be enough. I just want to hang out with Tracee at her beautiful house and ask her questions. - (LG)

This is fascinating. Everyone Oprah ever interviewed, everyone, had the same question afterward. - (Buzzfeed)

Awesomely Luvvie posted this on Facebook today and I think it’s worth sharing.

"The book is still terrible. The end." So ends LadyStardust’s review of Adam Mitzner’s Dead Certain, a book you should not read. In addition to the gratuitous license taken with how crimes are solved, the central female characters are, "collections of flimsy woman stereotypes." The rules of logic are all violated, and yet the outcome is still predictable. Thank you to LadyStardust for sticking it out on this book so we don’t have to. What is your least favorite mystery novel trope? (Cannonball Read 9)
