There’s a reason a reboot of The Crow spent years burning through every big-name actor in the book and all of them walked: There’s absolutely no way to compete with the original starring Brandon Lee. You will never catch that kind of lightning in a bottle again as evidenced by the failed sequels that are only ever mentioned to effectively argue that the only good Crow is the first Crow. However, that didn’t stop director Rupert Sanders from trudging forward with Bill Skarsgård as the winner/loser of the Eric Draven lottery. The two delivered a reboot that was both universally panned and DOA at the box office. That inevitable fate prompted the original The Crow director Alex Proyas to savor a well-earned moment of gloating. Enjoy it, good sir. (Variety)
