To appease the SEO gods, here’s what you clicked on the headline for: Norman Reedus is totally cool with Melissa McBride passing on the Daryl and Carol Walking Dead spinoff after being on the show for 12 years. Not only does he back up her decision to take some well-deserved time off but he’s certain their characters will meet again. (Variety)

And, now, for a brief message:

Good Christ, what a wild 24 hours. I filed last night’s Pajiba Love, and maybe 15 minutes later, the entire bottom fell out of reproductive rights. I’m not going to rehash talking points that have already been spouted a thousand times except for the one that can’t be repeated enough: The solution is VOTE. I know the piss-baby Online Left who demand instant gratification hate hearing this, but it is literally the only way to fix this. If there are not enough Democratic votes to counteract Republican votes, bad sh*t happens. Period. You may think all of the stuff our side wants is immensely popular — and, hell, maybe some polling shows that it is — but the other side shows up to vote against it like clockwork. If you don’t do the same, they win, and we hurtle backward into a patriarchal Christofascist fartbox of dumb. They are not going to suddenly vanish. You have to keep moving the ball forward every single election because, contrary to what you’ve been bamboozled into thinking like a pack of gullible lemmings on par with evangelicals, a magic socialist wizard isn’t going to show up and make everything better with a swish of his mittens. You have to be a goddamn adult and do the work.

Good talk.

From Petr: No comment needed, as usual with Carlin.

From Dustin: With a hat tip to Kim L., Ellen DeGeneres has a new kids’ book out and even the Kirkus Review is meh: “Certainly, these are great messages to convey to readers, but, as narrated here in clunky verse, the unclear text doesn’t quite hit its mark and comes across as rather egocentric; only occasionally do readers get a sense that Little Ellen is boosting them more than herself.” (Kirkus Reviews)

This seems to be doing numbers on its own, but just in a case, a solid thread from Amy Kapczynski on why it’s very likely that a fanatical conservative clerk leaked the Roe v. Wade draft. (Twitter)

Caesar’s Wife enjoys First Dog on the Moon’s scathing political cartoons, so she picked up The Carbon-Neutral Adventures of the Indefatigable Enviroteens at the library. "It follows the usual art style and zany humour I’ve come to expect, this time focussing on a team of environmental superheroes trying to save turtles, destroy micro-beads, and end climate change." Do you have a favorite cartoonist? (Cannonball Read 14)
