OK, quick note, and I’m trying to put this as sensitively as possible. There have been a rash of sexual assault allegations in the past few days, and I want to make sure to give them their due even though, as you’ll see, two of them have been shut down pretty definitively. But I want to highlight them because people on Twitter seem to be playing a very dangerous game that could make it even harder for actual victims to come forward. It’s some frustrating bullshit, but it’s important to be cognizant that it’s happening.

Justin Bieber addressed the sexual assault allegation against him with a mountain of literal receipts. He brought everything: hotel invoices, tabloid photos, social media time stamps, witnesses. The kid annoys me and was a real tool for a while there, but he does a very thorough job proving he was not at the scene of the alleged crime. (Variety)

Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhardt quickly shot down the separate allegations against them, which are almost definitely the result of some nut with a vendetta against either Riverdale or believing women if not both. (Vulture)

Ansel Elgort has denied the accusation that he raped a 17-year-old fan in 2014, but he does admit that they had a “brief, legal, and entirely consensual relationship,” which clearly places this situation in a very different category than the previous two. (Buzzfeed)
