John McCain Now Comparing Trump Scandals to Watergate, Plus Blake Lively: Lady Cage Fighter?
It’s Tuesday, which is basically just Monday-lite. The absurd amount of Trump nonsense that comes out each and every day now makes every week seem so terribly long, doesn’t it? So now that I’ve bummed you out with me, here are some semi-not-Trump-related links. Except for these first two tweets, because I swear, they’re good news!
McCain just said at a dinner honoring him that the Trump scandals have reached a "Watergate size and scale" — wow— Tim Mak (@timkmak) May 17, 2017
Dana Bash now reporting Congressional Rs debating between supporting independent prosecutor or independent commission. Major development.— Josh Kraushaar (@HotlineJosh) May 17, 2017
Ok, so this is sorta Trump-related, but in a good way! Dave Chappelle apologized for telling folks “to give Trump a chance.” That’s astounding! Someone actually apologizing for saying something they regret. In today’s world. Huh. Imagine that. - (Vanity Fair)
When you think “lady cage fighter”, do you immediately picture Blake Lively? Well now you’re gonna’! - (Lainey)
I was GOING to link to the really pretty cover of Harper’s Bazaar that Gigi Hadid (still don’t know who she is, still don’t care) is on, but decided instead to link to one of the pictures inside, because OMG, I don’t think Gigi knows how to hold a corded phone. I’m damn near certain she’s never even seen one before! - (GFY)
I avoid as much of the Kardashian/Jenner clan as I possibly can and truthfully, other than Kim, I have a hard time putting names to them. I DO know that the blonde one in this link did not used to be blonde and also did not used to have this face. Also, there’s Kim and Kanye divorce speculation. Must be a day that ends in “Y”! - (Celebitchy)
JD and Elliot (and Sean; no one cares, Sean!) reunited (kind of) at the ABC Upfronts last night. The Janitor should have been there too. Because I just like to imagine that he’s always there. Lurking. Waiting. Watching. - (Buzzfeed)
The Cannes EXTRAVAGANZA starts tomorrow. Sarah at Lainey Gossip has an excellent preview of what’s to come. PS: That picture of Marion Cotillard? I would have sworn it was Justine Bateman! - (LG)
It’s official now. Roseanne, starring an Islamophobic, Trump-supporting crazy woman, is returning. And in answer to your most pressing question: It’s Becky #1. The picture makes it real. (Uproxx)
The Five co-host Kimberly Guilfoyle stated that she is in talks to replace Sean Spicer as press secretary. Yeah, good luck with that. (AV Club)
Remember the wretched Dani Mathers who took a picture of the woman in the gym locker room and then shared it to social media with a bitchy message body shaming that woman? Well the court hasn’t forgotten and Dani Mathers is going on trial. - (Dlisted)
What is it like to be a woman in the military? CosmoNewanda had a different experience as a woman in the Navy than Kayla Williams did as a woman in the Army, but there were a lot of commonalities. It’s the commonness of Williams’ experience that makes Love My Rifle More than You: Young and Female in the U.S. Army an important read. (Cannonball Read 9)
