It’s been a slow news weekend (aside from Trump Twitter meltdowns) and I want to hurry up and watch Sharp Objects, so I’m gonna get in and out with this one real quick.

YA adaptations have not been doing well at the box office lately, but Netflix is doing a solid by producing what looks like a very good one, which will be out in August. Lana Condor could be the next Zoey Deutch. (Lainey)

Speaking of Deutch, her Mom, Lea Thompson, revealed that Tom Cruise once stood up to producers to get her out of filming a nude scene in All The Right Moves. (Uproxx) Oh, and also: I revisited that insane Keanu Reeves paternity lawsuit from a few years back. (Uproxx)

The good Trump daughter is not keeping great company. (Dlisted)

“What riles me is Meghan’s sense of superiority. She’d be nothing without me. I made her the Duchess she is today. Everything that Meghan is, I made her.” Meghan Markle’s Dad, ladies and gentlemen. A real class act. (Celebitchy)

Speaking of the Royals, here’s your weekly news dump. (GFY)

Here’s Mary Berry playing drums with Rick Astley. DID YOU WANT SOMETHING BETTER? (Jezebel)

There’s literally at least one story every day of a white person calling the cops on a black person, but this one involves Ving Rhames being held at gunpoint by the police. Also, if your neighbor is Ving Rhames, you should fucking know who your neighbor is. (Wonkette)

Goddamnit, I love the Obamas. Watch ‘em here grooving at a Beyoncé and Jay Z concert. (Vulture)

Natalie Portman is going to space (not literally.) (Film Experience)

Here’s a post from The Root because I thought you might enjoy the sensation of your head exploding in fury. (The Root)

You know what? TK told a story on Twitter about his Dad, and the story is just so fucking fantastic that I’d be remiss if I didn’t direct you toward it. In fact, I’m going to end on it. It’s a thread, starting here (click over onto Twitter to finish it):
