Emma's Canoodling with Justin; Jaden's Going to Prom with Odessa; and Katy's into Orlando's Ass

I spent all day on a field trip with my son’s class, and missed most of what happened today. When I came home, I got hit with a powerful wave of Roseanne, Samantha Bee, and Donald Trump pardons, and the toxicity of today’s news cycle was too much to take. So, here’s my promise to you: I won’t mention any of those three stories tonight, and I’ll do my best to keep things upbeat for sanity’s sake.

Whoa! Jaden Smith went to his prom, and his date was Odessa Adlon, who is Pamela Adlon’s daughter (who many of you know from Better Things). Also, they look adorable together! (Lainey) The question now is: Will Willow go? She’s got a boyfriend, too (I don’t know him, though). (Lainey)

Wait? Justin and Emma are a thing? Like, a real thing? I thought they were just a pretend thing, but these images suggest otherwise (I have second-hand heartbreak on Andrew Garfield’s behalf. And third-hand heartbreak for Courtney). (Dlisted)

I really thought that the Meghan Markle drama would end after the Royal Wedding. I was clearly wrong. (Celebitchy)

The Americans has ended its run after six seasons with a what I’d call a near-perfect ending (my perfect ending would’ve seen (SPOILERS)

… a McDonald’s in the Soviet Union, bookending the McDonald’s in America where the Jennings ate their last meal, but McDonald’s didn’t open in the Soviet Union until 1990 …

(end spoilers) but we can see the entire cast on the red carpet one last time for old time’s sake (and Keri looks magnificent). (GFY)

The Crow is cursed. The reboot has been grounded yet again, this time with Jason Momoa and director Corin Hardy, who have now exited the project. Remember, like, 8 years ago when Brad Cooper was attached? Also, where’s Bread Cooper these days? (The Mary Sue)

As Kayleigh noted, “I hate it when I become vaguely endeared to celebs I don’t like because of social media.” Hard not to find this a little endearing:

Taika Waititi has begun production on his next film. It’s a Hitler comedy. And you know it’s going to work. Check here for more details. (/Film)

Sophia Stewart investigates what makes a great TV pilot, and she offers a lot of great examples, including a few I’d forgotten about being so great (despite ultimately fizzling as series). (FSR)

Kristy’s friend and former trivia teammate, Max Evry invited her to be a part of his Sabacc unboxing video. She won the Millennium Falcon and talked trash. It was a good night. Oh, and look! Devindra is there, too (I love Devindra). (Coming Soon)

Genuinely, L3-37 was my favorite character in Solo, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge really did have the time of her life in that role. (FanGrrls)

Do you know the premise of next week’s #CannonBookClub choice, Kindred by Octavia Butler? An African American woman is thrown back in time and to ensure her own existence, has to save her slave-owning ancestor. Sound interesting? You’ve got a little over a week to read this one, so get going! To whet your appetite for conversation, check out faintingviolet’s discussion topic suggestions, and be sure pop over to the CBR website on June 8-9. (Cannonball Read 10)

Finally, I leave you with this. Yesterday, I posted a clip from America’s Got Talent that I thought was hilarious and kind of gross, and after I posted it, I watched another clip, and goddamn if this audition didn’t make me misty. It’s as much their reaction to the Golden Buzzer as the performance itself, but using “This Is Me” floored me. That song is my weakness. I know it’s all in the editing, but it is really good editing.
