You won’t be surprised to learn that, last year — around the time when everyone was wondering if Donald Trump would fire Bob Mueller — he actually tried to fire Bob Mueller. He walked it back, however, when Don McGahn — the White House lawyer — threatened to resign. In other words, Trump tried to obstruct the investigation into his obstruction. This story is going to be HUGE … for about 12 hours. (NYTimes)

Patrick Meehan — the Senator with a fondness for younger women who invite him for ice cream — will not be running for re-election later this year. (Axios)

You know those missing FBI texts that people on the Right have been conspiracy-theorizing about? They’ve been found. I bet someone misspelled a folder and they’ve just been sitting there all along. Is the FBI capable of finding lost socks is the better question. (WaPo)

Justin Timberlake says that a residency in Vegas is “scary” because it’s like “you’re planning your retirement”. Is this him throwing shade at Britney? It feels like it. Can there please be another dance-off between the two? (Celebitchy)

Jessica Chastain is a solid colleague, feminist, and friend. She made sure that Octavia Spencer’s salary would be fair, by tying it to her own salary. (The Root)

Emily V. Gordon (Kumail Nanjiani’s lovely co-writer and wife) is going to adapt The Nest. I’m so excited for this. I read the book last year and really enjoyed it. (Lainey Gossip)

This is so cool! Researchers created a contact lens that is capable of detecting glucose levels in tears. No more blood finger pricks for those dealing with diabetes. (IFLScience)

This ‘if Stephen King wrote Harry Potter’ post is amusing, but I think it needs way more bloody gifs, right? (Book Riot)

Mark your calendar for the “super blue blood moon” on January 31st. (Mental Floss)

Darren Aronofsky is my favorite writer/director, so I was bummed to hear that his HBO adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s MaddAddam series wasn’t happening. I love a good dystopian story and Aronofsky was a good match for it. Alas, it was not to be. But it looks like Paramount Television picked up the rights for it, and I just want to see this brought to television life. (Tor)

Are you looking for a job? Do you happen to be a postdoctoral researcher? Does building a brain and manipulating it sound interesting to you? If so, the National Intelligence Council has got a job for you! (Gizmodo)

I bet the Pajiba HR department will not be happy with me sharing this story, but calling your coworker a “crybaby” and throwing a burrito at them seems like a proper way to settle the Team Pie v. Team Cake argument. (Dlisted)

Are you watching X-Files? Are you participating in our recaps? Yesterday’s episode was really fun, and I found you a round-up of all the Easter eggs. (Vulture)

Even Meghan Trainor refers to her fiancé as “the kid from Spy Kids”. (EW)

Elie Saab is still using the most gorgeous fabrics, but the finishing touches on these gowns are…not good. (GFY)

I’m too old for these, but the A Wrinkle in Time Barbie dolls are pretty sweet. (The Nerdist)

Dynamic Cannonballing duo PattyKates is back with a review of Kristen Ashley’s The Hookup. Ashley is the duo’s favorite hate-review author, but this time, "KAshley obviously got herself the good ghostwriter for this book." Will there be enough for them to snark about? Of course - it’s still Kristen Ashley! Do you have a favorite hate-read author? (Cannonball Read 10)
