Back in February, Gina Carano filed a lawsuit against Disney where she alleged “unlawful termination” and “discrimination” after being fired from The Mandalorian. To the surprise of no one, it’s not going well for her. Disney has already asked the court to throw out Carano’s suit and aggressively defended its decision to part ways with the Cara Dune actress after she made a post “trivializing the Holocaust.” Disney argued that it has a constitutional right not to be associated with such rhetoric, and that it was the final straw in a series of controversial statements by Carano. More importantly, Elon Musk is funding this whole endeavor, so God willing, he’s bleeding a ton of money from this stupid stunt. If Carano loses on his dime, it really doesn’t get better than that. Meghan McCain is now bragging that she yelled at her co-workers on The View for being out of touch with the working class. Elderberrywine recommends The Hearing Trumpet by Leonora Carrington, though it goes off the rails in the middle-there are polar bears. “Well, this is certainly one hot mess of a novelette, and it is deliciously illustrated in sketchy (in all meanings of the word) drawings by the novelist herself, a surrealistic painter.” Which books are worth reading despite a not great middle? (Cannonball Read 16)
