Right upfront, I’m selfishly sympathetic to anyone who said stupid sh*t (within reason) on the internet 10 years ago, as was the custom at the time. However, I added the caveat of within reason because DMing child brides and telling them to kill themselves was not an acceptable part of those snarky, shock jock days. Unfortunately, that’s apparently what Chrissy Teigen did to Courtney Stodden, who called out Teigen in an interview with The Daily Beast. Today, Teigen offered a public apology where she notably does not deny sending the DMs to Stodden. Not great! (Twitter)

A few hours later, Stodden offered their response to Teigen’s apology, and here’s where it goes from bad to worse. While Stodden “forgives” Teigen, they can’t help but note that Teigen’s team did not reach out to them privately as Teigen claimed, but instead, Teigen blocked Stodden on Twitter. That’s a huge ol’ yikes right there. (Instagram)

Which childhood books have you reread as an adult? Judy Blume’s Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, one of Cannonball Read’s selections in their book club, Young at Heart: Reading Childhood Favorites, was first published in 1971. MsWas read it as a child, but as an adult she had a very different perspective on the "misfit" kids. "But Judy Blume is an incredibly effective writer, so even though I brought all of my modern concerns with me, as a reader I still was on the side of the older brother, Peter." Join Cannonball Read May 21-22 to talk about kid lit and nostalgia. (Cannonball Read 13)
