Immediately after it was reported that LeBron James’ son, Bronny James, suffered a cardiac arrest at only age 18, anti-vax shitburgers latched onto the story as “proof” that the vaccine is causing heart attacks in young people. Not so much, for starters, cardiac arrests amongst athletes has been an issue long before COVID. Same with congenital heart defects, which James reportedly has and will be treated for. Of course, that hasn’t stopped anti-vaxxers from now wondering where the condition came from because they obviously don’t know that “congenital” means “present at birth.” Unless you can somehow prove the COVID vaccine is traveling back in time, take the L, dorks. A lot of the fishing terminology in Peter Heller’s The Guide was unfamiliar to booktrovert, but she kept going. “I found myself captivated by this meditation on grief, guilt, mixed with an anti-capitalist thriller with a strong sense of place.” What book would you consider an unexpected gem? Our resident DC Comics expert Brian will pay tribute to Arleen Sorkin this week, but I’d be remiss in not at least mentioning that Harley Quinn would not exist without her iconic performance in Batman: The Animated Series. Also, I’m ancient enough to remember gathering around the TV on Sunday nights to watch America’s Funniest People. My bones, they hurt. Rest in Peace, Arleen.
