There are no answers here, just a reminder that we haven’t asked the question in a while: Is the one good thing to come out of True Detective season two still happening? (Lainey)

The casting of Zoe Saldana as Nina Simone has been a source of major criticism for years (this project has been in development seemingly forever), but even Simone’s daughter, who has been an outspoken critic of the choice, thinks it’s “unfortunate that Zoe Saldana is being attacked so viciously.” (THR)

She reviewed Thirst by Benjamin Warner, about a future where the fresh water simply vanishes and so does the pretense of civilization. (Cannonball Read 8)

This is a few weeks old, but it is absolutely adorable (hat tip Kevin Arbouret)

Happy Friday! Try to find yourselves a good role model this weekend. (Or at least practice that invaluable art of faking it till you’re making it.)
