It was a terrific opening weekend in the NFL (and I’m sure Lord Castleton will have more on that later this week), but if there was one downer (besides Keenan Allen’s season-ending injury), it was the late Monday game between the 49ers and Los Angeles Rams. It was a snoozefest, and the 49ers had the game well in hand early on.
In fact, I suspect most people — especially on the East Coast — turned the game off early and turned in. If so, you missed only one highlight, the weekend’s best play call. It comes from Kevin Harlan, who was doing play-by-play for Westwood One radio when a drunken idiot ran onto the field. Harlan manufactured some great drama.
