About that Time Sean Hannity Pulled a Gun on Juan Williams

Juan Williams himself is downplaying this account, saying that “It was clear that Sean put my safety and security above all else and we continue to be great friends,” but he does not deny that Sean Hannity pulled out a gun, pointed it at Williams, and turned on the laser sight on the Fox News set.

From CNN:

Hannity’s version of entertainment can go too far. Last year, after ending one of his many spirited on-air arguments with liberal contributor Juan Williams, Hannity pulled out a gun and pointed it directly at Williams, according to three sources with knowledge of the incident. He even turned on the laser sight, causing a red dot to bob around on Williams’ body. (Hannity was just showing off, the sources said, but the unforeseen off-camera antic clearly disturbed Williams and others on set.)

For the record: Hannity’s colleagues brought the Williams incident to the attention of Fox News executives, though it’s not clear whether anything came of it. The sources said it went to Bill Shine, the network’s co-president and longtime Fox News executive, who is Hannity’s longtime friend and a former producer. A Fox News spokesperson said the incident was referred to the legal and human resources departments.

CNN is just “sensationalizing” this story, according to Williams, and Fox News said that no one was in danger. “Sean Hannity has been trained in firearm safety since he was 11 years old and has a license to carry a gun in five states, including New York,” Fox News said in a statement. But I wonder what Republicans and Fox News viewers would say if we just switched a couple of words around in this report:

Still, William’s version of entertainment can go too far. Last year, after ending one of his many spirited on-air arguments with conservative contributor Sean Hannity, Williams pulled out a gun and pointed it directly at Hannity, according to three sources with knowledge of the incident. We’ll probably never really know how the right would react if it were a black man pointing a gun at a white man. Oh wait! Nevermind. We know exactly how the right would react, even if the gun were a toy and the white man was an actor in a music video:

I’m sure that Snoop, who has been trained with toy guns since the age of 11, put the safety and security of the actor playing Trump above all else when he pointed that dangerous weapon at him.
