The Russo Bros. are the directors behind three of the best Marvel movies — Captain America: Civil War, and the two Avengers movies, Endgame and Infinity Wars. They’ve proven to be so effective that they were asked back to direct the next two Avengers movies, Secret Wars and Doomsday.
Outside of the MCU, however, their instincts have not proven to be as successful. They directed Tom Holland in the critically panned Cherry and Ryan Gosling in the derided and expensive Gray Man. As producers, they’re also behind the expensive Citadel universe on Prime Video, has been something of a disaster.
Next up: The Electric State, another expensive film for Netflix starring the Netflix darling, Millie Bobbie Brown, and Chris Pratt with that hairstyle. He looks like Chris Gaines cosplaying as Indiana Jones. The trailer seems to suggest some sort of cross between The Iron Giant, Ready Player One, and a bag of marshmallow dicks.
The film hits Netflix in March. I’m sure it will be huge, but likewise, I’m sure that — like Gray Man — no one will remember it a month later.
