Yesterday, SNL announced the hosts for the final two episodes of its 50th season, following Quinta Brunson’s second stint as host on May 3 (with musical guest Benson Boone). On May 10, Walton Goggins will make his hosting debut, fresh off his season of The White Lotus and ahead of the second season of Fallout, expected in early 2026. Arcade Fire will be the musical guest, marking their sixth appearance on the show.
The season finale will feature Scarlett Johansson—hosting for the sixth time—and musical guest Bad Bunny, who will be making his third appearance.
There’s no official word yet on who might be leaving SNL at the end of the season. Michael Che has strongly hinted that he’s departing after the next three episodes. But if a certain cast member—who’s been with the show for 20 years in various roles—were to exit, what better way to send him off than by having his wife host the finale? That would be Colin Jost, of course, who joined SNL as a writer in 2005, became co-anchor of “Weekend Update” in 2014, and served as head writer from 2012 to 2015 and again from 2017 to 2022.
Now, if Jost is leaving, and if this is Scarlett Johansson’s final time hosting while he’s still in the cast, wouldn’t it make sense for her to join him at the “Update” desk? Maybe even take part in the final joke swap between Jost and Che—and possibly write one last joke for Che, avenging the one he wrote about her during the Christmas Update? It’d be a perfect farewell to their long run at the desk.
There’s no SNL this weekend, by the by.
