Aaron Rodgers freaking loves going on The Pat McAfee Show, where he’s given reign to spout off every single one of his ridiculous conspiracy theories even if it almost gets Pat and ESPN sued into the sun by Jimmy Kimmel. In fact, Rodgers has ranted so many times about vaccines that I’m amazed he’s not part of the Trump administration, or at the very least, heading a task force dedicated to denying bird flu exists and/or rubbing infected chickens together.

Anyway, this week, Rodgers’ career with the New York Jets came to an anticlimactic end as the team finally cut him close. However, despite being an albatross around the team’s neck, the Jets were reportedly willing to keep Rodgers around if he stepped up his game by actually focusing on football and not farting QAnon-level horseshit into a microphone. You’ll never guess which one he chose. Via CBS Sports:

Those appearances, according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini on her “Scoop City” podcast, may have played a role in Rodgers and the Jets parting ways this offseason.

“I was told that when they had conversations with Aaron Rodgers about what the future would look like, if you’re going to be part of this team, you’re going to attend all of the training camp, you’re not going to do Pat McAfee interviews anymore,” Russini said.

When asked who gave Rodgers that ultimatum, Russini revealed that it came from the very top: General Manager Darren Mougey and head coach Aaron Glenn. As of this writing, Rodgers will be a free agent and is reportedly still looking to play another season. However, one team is making it clear that they wanted nothing to do with him.

According to the New York Post, DeShon Elliott was quick to respond to rumors of Rodgers joining the Pittsburgh Steelers. “Leave his ass at the retirement home,” Elliott wrote in a now-deleted Instagram comment.

Rodgers has yet to comment on his future in the NFL, but just assume he’s been getting lots of phone calls where a rusty gate tells him which animal carcasses are the most delicious. (That was an RFK joke. Too subtle?)
