Those still smarting from the cancellation of Santa Clarita Diet have reason to rejoice. Netflix has greenlit the blistering and brilliant dark-comedy series Dead To Me for a second season. The sensational series’ creator Liz Feldman announced the good news during a Netflix FYSEE panel yesterday.

Critics went wild for Dead To Me, which stars Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini as two grieving women who bond over their pain and a shared love of Facts of Life, but whose friendship is threatened by a terrible secret. In my review, I raved over its razor-sharp humor and many, many twists. But above all, I was exhilarated by the performances of these two impeccable leading ladies, writing, “This is the role Christina Applegate was born to play,” and “at long damn last, Freaks and Geeks’ Linda Cardinelli gets another role that feels worthy of her!”

Netflix has confirmed that Applegate and Cardellini will return to headline Season 2, and this darling duo took to Twitter to trumpet the news and their excitement.

Also returning is Feldman, as showrunner and executive producer on season two. Unknown is who else from Season 1 might resurface and when Season 2 might debut. Without dipping into spoilers, it’ll also be curious to see where Feldman decides to pick up the plot following that jaw-dropping season one cliffhanger.

For now, she’s keeping mum. However, Feldman did tease to EW:

“[Season 2] will be about the further exploration of this friendship, and relationship, and now very complicated dynamic, or even more complicated dynamic between these two women. What I wanted to do was create a situation where they’re forced together, and they need each other now in some ways more than they did at the beginning of Season 1.”

For what that might mean for Season 2, behold Dustin’s yarn wall! (Spoilers at the link!)

And if all of this is confounding to you, considering checking out Dead To Me, now streaming on Netflix.
