WHEE! Netflix Announces They'll Release a New Marvel Series Every Six Months

Man, this day just keeps getting better. Just a little while ago I ordered my copy of Brian Michael Bendis’ Alias so I could get started on the Jessica Jones story before her series hits Netflix. Meanwhile, news the streaming (ha, just Freudianed “steaming”) service had made a huge announcement hit the interwebs.

Remember when Marvel and Netflix first announced their big series partnership? We weren’t sure exactly how it would all work out, or if justice to the comics would be done. But here we are a Daredevil later, and things seem pretty darned good. Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones is on her way, along with Mike Colter’s Luke Cage; he’ll get his own series, and then we’ll get Iron Fist and The Defenders.

And now, at yesterday’s Television Critics Association panel, Netflix amped up everything by a kazillionty percent (that’s a lot) with their announcement we’ll be getting a new Marvel superhero series every six months, which means NO MORE WONDERING WHEN THE NEXT ONE’S COMING. Additionally, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, Ted Sarandos says there’s a good possibility Jon Bernthal’s Punisher will be getting his own spinoff show.

Of course, some people may not be as happy about this news as we are, seeing as how ***Very Minorly Spoilerish Daredevil allusion**** their current circumstances don’t allow for the freedom to run around town screaming the news.

But the rest of us think this news is pretty …
