If you’re a television junkie with a slight case of OCD, the best thing about the holiday break is being able to clear your DVR (or in my case, a TV-watching app) of all the episodes of television that have been piling up. By midnight last night, I’d wrangled some 40 episodes of TV down to just 11, and I have roughly 5 days to finish those before the regular television kicks off again. It’s liberating, people. It’s liberating!

Of course, that liberation won’t last long. It’s a busy month, because in addition to all those returning series, the second season of FutureMan returns on the 11th, Shameless comes back, Kimmy Schmidt finishes its run, The Goldbergs spin-off, Schooled starts up, I’m Sorry, Brooklyn 99 and You’re the Worst return, True Detective is back and so is The Punisher, last year’s Best Chris has a new television drama, I Am the Night, and Ryan Hansen’s show returns. And that’s just in January.

On the 11th of January, Friends from College is also returning for a second season, and while no one else seemed to really like it all that much, I dug it.

But there’s ALSO another new series on Netflix debuting on the same weekend. It’s called Sex Education, and before you decide to skip it, let me inform you that Gillian Anderson is in it, and she plays a sex therapist. But also a mother. A mother that’s way too comfortable talking about sex with her son, who I think decided to become an amateur sex therapist himself. In high school.

I dunno, but it looks fun, and so I am prepared to refill my television-watching app with 8 or 10 or 12 more episodes, hopefully of the half-hour variety (although, it looks like one of those shows with 45 minute episodes).
