It’s been a long time since a show that I truly loved was canceled too soon. Way too soon. But Netflix has decided not to pick up another season of its brilliant, heartbreaking, amazing coming-of-age comedy Everything Sucks. The series was met with positive reviews (because it is great), and I really thought it had the makings of a cult hit.

It looks like “cult” status is its only hope now, as the network that typically picks up these great underdog gems is the network that just bloody canceled the show. This is a heartbreaker, although it’s still an incredible season, and I can’t recommend enough that you still check it out, especially if you came of age in the ’90s, or if you’ve ever felt like an outsider, or if you’ve ever struggled with finding your identity, or if you’ve ever fallen in love.

The move, by the way, comes as Netflix is suddenly being more choosy about what it renews. Girlboss, Haters Back Off, Gypsy, Sense8 and The Get Down have all geen given the ax. Love also recently ended its run, along with Bloodline and House of Cards is entering its final season, so, uh, welcome to being a real network that has to deliver bad news to fans, Netflix. Meanwhile, The Ranch and that terrible Kathy Bates show Disjointed are still around. Boo.

Ouch.
