Everything We Know About Disney+, So Far

The much anticipated Disney+ streaming network finally has a launch date now, November 12th, 2019. It’s relatively inexpensive at $6.99 a month or $69.99 for a year, and given what’s available on Disney+, you may want to go ahead and get the year-long subscription. The focus will be on the Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar, and National Geographic brands — and all the Star Wars movies will be available, in addition to the new Star Wars series, The Mandalorian. It will launch with around 500 movies (100 recent and 400 classic Disney films, including all those films in the vault).

On the Marvel side, there will be a new series called The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, featuring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, plus a Loki series with Tom Hiddleston, WandaVision with Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, and a Marvel animated series. One perk of the merge with Fox is that Disney+ will also now become the exclusive home to 30 seasons of The Simpsons.

I’m actually not that wild about most of the original series coming (High Fidelity, High School Musical series, a Monsters series, and a reboot of The Clone Wars, a Love, Simon series, a Kristen Bell reality show, a Sandlot TV series etc.), but it will be the only place to stream Disney movies once they are available for streaming (Marvel movies, Star Wars movies, Mary Poppins Returns, Pixar, etc.)

It is also my understanding that there will likely be options to bundle Disney+ with Hulu and ESPN. If you have kids, it appears that Disney Channel, Disney Junior, and Disney XD programming will also be available, which is ideal for seven-year-old twins who would really like to watch Girl Meets World but do not otherwise have access to it, and their father is absolutely not going to spend $50 to buy all three seasons.
