Netflix knows what you want. Crime. Punishment. David Tennant. Haley Atwell. With the cryptic trailer for their new series Criminal, Netflix promises the Jessica Jones baddie, the Black Mirror heartbreaker, and so much more.

Check out the trailer for Criminal:

Created by Killing Eve writer George Kay and Wrecked helmer Jim Field Smith, Criminal is described as a “stripped down, cat-and-mouse drama” that will be set squarely in a police interrogation room, focusing on the tension and conflict between the interrogator and the interrogated. The series is set across four countries: The United Kingdom, France, Spain, and Germany. Each setting gets three of the 12 45-minute episodes of Season 1. Plus, each nation will bring to the show their own homeland talent, in front of and behind the camera.

Deadline reported what stars will appear, noting guest stars. As the trailer promises “12 unique crime stories,” that suggests the recurring characters will play police force members. So, we can conclude the guest stars will likely play suspects.

Here’s how this breaks down:

Repping for the UK: Nicholas Pinnock, Katherine Kelly, Lee Ingleby, Mark Stanley, Rochenda Sandall, and Shubham Saraf star, meaning we suspect they’ll play police. Tennant, Atwell, Youssef Kerkour, and Clare-Hope Ashitey are listed as “guest stars,” and the first three can be seen having mugshots taken in the trailer above. What does this mean for Ashitey? Could she be playing a witness?

Repping France: Margot Bancilhon, Laurent Lucas, Stéphane Jobert, Anne Azoulay and Mhamed Arezki star, and so likely are playing the investigators and interrogators in these eps. Nathalie Baye, Jérémie Renier, and Sara Giraudeau are guest stars, and getting mugshots above.

Repping for Spain: Jorge Bosch, José Ángel Egido, Nuria Mencía, Daniel Chamorro, María Morales, Javi Coll and Milo Taboada star alongside Carmen Machi, Inma Cuesta, Eduard Fernández, Emma Suárez, and Álvaro Cervantes.

Repping for Germany: Eva Meckbach, Sylvester Groth, Florence Kasumba, Christian Kuchenbuch and Jonathan Berlin star alongside Peter Kurth, Christian Berkel, Deniz Arora, and Nina Hoss.

While we’ve cracked some of the clues, we have no idea what kind of cases Criminal will take on. But Netflix had us at Tennant + Atwell.

Criminal hits Netflix this Fall.
