You know that thing where you’re scrolling through Twitter and an ad pops up that’s so inexplicable you at first can’t decide if its for jeans, perfume, or designer hamburgers? That WTF moment is what hit me as I activated the teaser for Amazon Studios’ upcoming fantasy series Carnival Row.

Behold Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne being broody and mysterious in Victorian smolder mode:

The official synopsis from Amazon Studios:

Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne star in Carnival Row, a Victorian fantasy world filled with mythological immigrant creatures whose rich homelands were invaded by the empires of man. This growing immigrant population struggles to coexist with humans in the grimiest section of the city — forbidden to live, love, or fly with freedom. But even in darkness, hope lives, as a human detective, Rycroft Philostrate, and a refugee faerie named Vignette Stonemoss rekindle a dangerous affair despite an increasingly intolerant society. Vignette harbors a secret that endangers Philo’s standing during his most important case yet: a string of gruesome murders threatening the uneasy peace of the Row. As Philo investigates, he reveals a monster no one could imagine.

Though it’s only Bloom and Delevingne featured in the teaser, Carnival Row will also star David Gyasi, Karla Crome, Tamzin Merchant, and Indira Varma. Plus, according to IMDB, Guillermo del Toro penned an ep, which tracks since he was long ago attached to the Travis Beacham spec script on which Carnival Row is based. Beacham is also on board, producing alongside Bloom, Marc Guggenheim, René Echevarria, and Jon Amiel.

So, murder, mythological creatures, political metaphors, and model smolder? What do we make of this first look at Carnival Row?

Carnival Row will hit Prime on August 30.
