This Song is Tight as Sh*t, But More Importantly, the Video - A Bonkers Microcosm Of The Election - is Fantastic

If you don’t know who Run The Jewels are — a collaborative between hip hop performers extraordinaire Killer Mike (an avid Bernie Sanders supporter and all around solid guy) and El-P — you’re missing out. If you don’t know who DJ Shadow is — one of the most prolific and talented DJ/record producer/electronic artists ever — you’re missing out even more.

When they come together, it’s something remarkable. The song they’ve created, “Nobody Speak”, is goddamn terrific. But the video. The video, people. It’s something to behold. It debuted today on Mass Appeal, and it’s a beautiful, scathing takedown of the election cycle in general, filled with searing imagery and wordplay, from the opening lyrical salvo to the final poignant moment. It shows the chaos and rage and nonsense, and it ultimately shows those left in the wake of it all. It’s perfection.

Sayeth Killer Mike: “It’s what I really wish Trump and Hillary would just do and get it over with…And even in that fight I think Hillary would win - and that’s s not an endorsement.”

Sayeth DJ Shadow: “We wanted to make a positive, life-affirming video that captures politicians at their election-year best… We got this instead.”

These guys get me, even if I’m admittedly in the bag for Hillary.

“Nobody Speak” is featured on DJ Shadow’s newest album, “The Mountain Will Fall”, which I cannot recommend highly enough.
