The trailer for the second season of Mr. Robot on the USA Network has been released. It’s an excitement doozy. Here, watch it. Right now.

Did you see Obama? And Grace Gummer! And the BDSM that probably spiraled out of control (f*cking Tyrell Wellick, amiright?)

Did you pick up on this, the 5th time you watched the trailer?

You see it, right? That phone number. It’s not a 555 phone number. It’s a real phone number. Let’s call it:

Thank you for calling the E-Corp helpline. Following recent events, we are experiencing unusually heavy caller volume. To avoid waiting and for more information please visit our help page at www …

Then it breaks up, and a menacing FSociety sounding man comes on and says, “In order for the light to shine so brightly the darkness must be present.”

Then it makes a lot of little beepy/ticky noises and offers to repeat the message.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

I don’t know, but I do know that the quote comes from Francis Bacon, who developed the scientific method and was allegedly connected to Rosicrucianism.

What is Rosicrucianism? According ot Wikipedia, Rosicrucianism is a philosophical secret society said to have been founded in late medieval Germany by Christian Rosenkreuz. It holds a doctrine or theology “built on esoteric truths of the ancient past”, which “concealed from the average man, provide insight into nature, the physical universe and the spiritual realm.” Rosicrucianism is symbolized by the Rosy Cross or Rose Cross.

That is strangely befitting. I have not, however, located a Rosy Cross in the trailer, though that may be a small bust of Francis Bacon in the background of this shot:

What I’m saying is, I think we solved season two of Mr. Robot. It’s all about Rosicrucianism.
