You’ve got to hand it to cats, really. While dogs are precious, perfect cartoons that by their sheer existence give humanity meaning, cats seem to have evolved into a state of being that is designed with ruthless efficacy to simultaneously annoy as well as enchant. Ask any cat owner (though ‘roommate’ may be a more appropriate term) and they’ll confirm that while their cat does indeed love them, they also probably express a baffling combination of contempt, impatience, and/or deep-seated desire to troll their human companion, in any number of innovative, completely unnecessary ways.
