One thing you should probably know about me is that I’m generally a sucker for videos of people dancing poorly in public places. This is half the reason I loved the “Harlem Shake” trend so much. I think we should all dance more, however terrible we are at it. Not necessarily in public, just overall.
With that explanation, here’s a video of the students of UCF dancing to Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off” and providing sort of a visual reference for the most popular and enduring dance trends of the last 30 years, which is impressive, because most of these kids are probably younger than 22. I spotted the Carleton, the Kid’n’Play, the Harlem Shake, the Nay-Nay, the Shmoney, and plenty of less recognizable moves. Also a guy with a shockingly good shoulder shimmy.
