This May Well Be the Single Stupidest Tweet In the History of Twitter

You probably heard that yesterday that Martin Shkreli, the man who inspired the beautiful new term “pharmadouche,” was arrested. He was arrested, not on charges of being a general dumpster fire of a human being, but on securities fraud. If you didn’t hear about his arrest, you probably wondered what those sounds of worldwide celebration, with parades and fireworks strangers hugging each other all around merriment were about. Because the world did celebrate. If you ever need cheering up, or want to feel like the internet is throwing a parade in your honor, take a scroll through the gifs that make up comments section in our coverage of the arrest.

And yes, Shkreli may only have stayed in jail a few hours before he was released on bail, but during those hours, not only did the world show their loathing in mass force, but he was removed as CEO of Turing Pharmaceuticals. Because no one likes him or wants him around. No one.

Which makes this tweet, posted after his release, brain-smashingly confusing. This was Shkreli’s response to our celebration of his misfortune:

…I’m sorry?

Is that sarcasm? Does he know what words mean? IT DOESN’T MAKE SENSE.

Never underestimate the power of denial, I suppose.
