This Is Who John Oliver Sent to Piss Off The Yankees

On the last episode of Last Week Tonight, John Oliver took the Yankees and the team’s COO to task for being elitist a-holes. In short, the Yankees are making it harder for regular, non-diamond-encrusted humans to attend their games, with moves like removing the option to print tickets at home. But in trying to keep the riffraff out of the stadium’s premium seats, those sections are going largely unfilled. So with baseball season starting back up this week, Oliver decided to buy a bunch of premium tickets and is selling them to viewers for only 25¢, under the condition that those viewers attend the game deliberately and flamboyantly looking like the type of people those rich jerkwads don’t want there.

There were a lot of impressive submissions to the show’s contest, which asked viewers to tweet the outfit they’d wear to the game, along with the (laughably obvious) hashtag #IHaveNeverSatInAPremiumLocation. Scrolling through the submissions, there were a lot of adorably embarrassing Halloween couple’s costumes.

One or two terrifying outfits.

This guy is my favorite because the people in those premium seats would HATE having to sit next to him, and he’d for sure be the biggest actual baseball fan there.

But for Tuesday’s game, this is who Oliver and his team picked to sit behind home plate:

Well done, turtles. And thank you, John Oliver. For you New Yorkers eager to embarrass yourselves and piss off Yankee dbags, the contest goes through Thursday. As for the team’s president, he had this to say:

Everyone is welcome at Yankee Stadium… And I thank John Oliver for buying Yankees tickets.

You heard him, EVERYONE is welcome. Which I think means tomorrow’s winners need to up their embarrassment game.
