An Australian fast food chain is setting out to claim a Guinness World Record, but it doesn’t have anything to do with their food. Well, maybe in a morbid someday-if-this-experiment-fails sort of way, but let’s not think about that.
The chain, Chicken Treat, has given a desktop computer to an actual hen named Betty, in the hopes that Betty will be the world’s first chicken to tweet. The goal is for Betty to (either by chance or— I suppose— deliberately) produce a five-letter English word.
And sure, she may not be better at Twitter than the rest of us—in fact, she’s terrible— but at the moment she does have about 20 times the followers I do, so maybe it’s time to start letting my cat tweet for me for a while. Betty started just over a week ago.

So far, she’s come close a couple of times:
Before hitting the hay yesterday, Betty came close to typing her Guinness-worthy-five-letter word. Honourable mentions include Few & Bum!

But no five letter words. Here’s a sampling of Betty’s tweets.

I’m choosing to believe that Betty is aware of her task and doesn’t want to be this company’s Twitter prisoner. That last message is her plea for “nooooo more.” Unfortunately, she misspelled it, because she’s a chicken, so it’s back to the keyboard with you, Betty. There’s no room for error when it comes to animals and typing.
