It seems a quaint exercise, sometimes, looking back on a decade. How do you reduce or summarize or otherwise put boundaries on a period like that? Often we do so by looking back at the films or the music that defined that decade, and we draw conclusions based on those works of art. Or at least that used to be a common method that made sense. These days, living in the most absurd, consumer-capital-dominated, Debordist spectacle society as we do, spiraling around the plug hole of extinction in our enforced death cult, we might as well look back on that other, ever more dominating media form: commercials. More specifically, the heroes capitalism held up for us in the quest to sell us things. You know, all the greats like: P Diddy, Kevin Spacey, and United Healthcare.
