The Most Pathetic People in America? Or the Most Gleeful?

The image above is that of scores of Twilight: Breaking Dawn fans lined up five (5) days in advance at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, not to see the movie, mind you. But to see the stars of the movie walk past them and into the theater themselves. On the one hand, Jesus, that’s really sad. On the other hand, good for them, good for them for having the passion to line up 120 hours in advance to catch a glimpse of Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, for having the enthusiasm about something, and for doing something that will no doubt make them happy. It calls to mind that line from Paul Rudd in Knocked Up, as he watched his gleeful children running around the playground. “I wish I liked anything as much as my kids like bubbles.”

I would kill to want to see a movie as much as these people want to see Breaking Dawn. But honestly, I’d much rather play with bubbles than actually sit through it.
