Snoop Dogg, of the Long Beach Doggs, announced at SXSW that he’s going to be executive producer on a drama about Los Angeles in the 1980s. According to Variety, “The show will center around a family living in inner-city L.A. and will explore the effects of Reagan-era social policies on the area”.

So far it’s not been announced if Snoop Dogg himself will be in the series. He does have an extensive resume of bit parts and cameos, including a recent one on the Empire finale, but not a big role in something dramatic like this to my knowledge. The concept sounds interesting, and could shed a light on an era some of us might not be familiar with. (Because we weren’t born and/or babies. Like me. Most of my knowledge of the ’80s comes from movies, Doonesbury comics, and VH1 shows.)
