'Shaun of the Dead Live' May Be The World's Next Theatrical Spectacular

An amateur theatre company from Gloucestershire is attempting to turn Shaun of the Dead into the next Rocky Horror, and, amazingly, it might actually be working. The company, Almost Legal Productions, has secured the rights to the movie and is gearing up to tour their stage adaptation. They first staged the show in October, and just before one of the preview shows, Simon Pegg (instead of suing them), tweeted about the production. As we know, that’s pretty much all it takes to make something a mega hit.

So what kind of show is it? The kind with audience participation/projectiles/ costumes, and plenty of musical numbers. But as the creator, Chas Burns (congrats on winning the name lottery, Chas) says,

It’s not a musical. Between you and I, I can’t abide musicals. It’s a production with tongue-in-cheek songs, with some extra stuff thrown in you won’t see in the film and deleted scenes that were left on the cutting room floor. I have always stated that if I ever see anyone yawning at one of our productions I will call it a day.
If the trailer below is an indication, those “tongue-in-cheek” songs include a Queen parody about… lunch? Alright, fine. Does the show look kind of terrible? Of course. Does it also look like a sh*t ton of fun? Yes it does.

Having a lunchtime, y’all.
