More shows coming back or premiering tonight, so that’s fun. For those of you out there who have been watching the new shows, any early favorites? I know Dustin’s pulling for “Lone Star” but it’s on Fox and it’s been years since Fox said to themselves “Hey, this is a nice little show, so even though it didn’t draw a huge audience it’s first time out, we’re gonna keep promoting it and let its audience find it in their own time” even though one of the most successful shows in their history (“The X-Files”) didn’t start out with huge ratings and did just that. Actually, it’s been years since most network TV did that, at this point you can only really count on the premium channels to take chances, like Starz ordering a second season of “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” before the first aired or HBO picking up a second season of “Boardwalk Empire” after the first episode aired this week. So, which of the new shows are you pulling for and which are you loving but already bracing for their inevitable demise? Here’s your Wednesday night TV:
8:00pm: “America’s Next Top Model” on The CW
“Campus PD” on G4
“Changing Lanes” on BET
“Hell’s Kitchen” on Fox. Two hour 8th season premiere.
“The Middle” on ABC. Second season premiere.
“Survivor” on CBS
“Undercovers” on NBC. Series premiere. Literally, all I know about this show is that it centers around that stunningly attractive couple that’s in all the commercials and they do something spy-ish or spy related while being stunningly attractive. That could be enough to get me to watch it.
8:30pm: “Better With You” on ABC. Series premiere.
9:00pm: “Criminal Minds” on CBS. Sixth season premiere. One of my guilty pleasure and, given how many of you listed Shemar Moore on the “Sugar, No Cream” diversion yesterday, probably the same goes for more than a few of you.
“America’s Best: American Classics” on Food Network
“Ghost Hunters” on SyFy
“Hellcats” on The CW
“Law and Order: Special Victims Unit” on NBC. Two hour 12th season premiere.
“Man vs. Food” on Travel
“Man vs. Wild” on Discovery. Fifth season finale. This episode is called “Behind the Wild” and I haven’t the faintest clue what that means.
“Modern Family” on ABC. Second season premiere.
“Top Chef: Reunion” on Bravo.
9:30pm: “Cougar Town” on ABC. Second season premiere.
10:00pm: “Black Gold” on TruTV
“The Choir” on BBCA
“Clean House” on Style
“The Defenders” on CBS. Series premiere.
“Food Wars” on Travel
“LA Ink” on TLC
“The Real World: Reunion Special” on MTV
“Sci-Fi Science: Physics of The Impossible” on Science
“Surviving The Cut” on Discovery
“Terriers” on FX
“Top Chef Just Desserts” on Bravo. Time slot premiere. When I saw that Gail Simmons was hosting this, I kind of flashed on that Zappos.com commercial where the puppet is exchanging workout clothes for a deep fryer and explains it simply as “I’m going in another direction.” I guess after a few years of sitting next to Padma, Gail has decided that she’s going in another direction. Good for her.
“Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns” on TBS
“Who the (Bleep) Did I Marry?” on OD
“The Whole Truth” on ABC. Series premiere.
Late Night Listings
