I’m not really sure what to write about tonight, since this is basically the last gasp of summer entertainment before the more popular shows start coming back, kicking off with “House” on Monday night. I love a lot of things about summer, but the sharp drop off in the number of television shows I’m willing to submit myself to is certainly not one of them. Of course, the fall season also brings back all those shows that I tend to forget exist over the summer so I spend a couple weeks going “REALLY?!? This piece of crap is still on the air?” or in the case of Charlie Sheen and “Two and a Half Men,” speculating on what kind of deal was made with the devil that a drug abusing, prostitute frequenting, verbal abusing, physical abusing, and porn addicted man whose past is no secret to anyone with an internet connection is still a fan favorite across America. Boggles the mind. Anyway, here’s tonight’s TV and I’ll see you next week when I actually have something to talk about, maybe.
7:30pm: “Thursday Night College Football: Cincinnati at NC State” on ESPN
8:00pm: “Extreme Cuisine with Jeff Corwin” on Food Network
“The Fence” on HBO
“The Universe” on History
“The Vampire Diaries” on The CW
9:00pm: “American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior” on TLC
“The Apprentice” on NBC. Two hour tenth season premiere. Speaking of shows that I’m bewildered are still on the air… really? I mean, the only person from this show that I ever heard about after it’s run was that Omarosa chick everyone hated. Does anyone really score an awesome job after the cameras get turned off or is it like “America’s Next Top Model,” where your chances are better if you get eliminated early on?
“Destination Truth” on SyFy
“Health Special: Big Kids” on Health
“Nikita” on The CW
“Project Runway” on Lifetime
“The Real Housewives of DC” on Bravo
10:00pm: “Ace of Cakes” on Food Network
“Along Among Grizzlies” on Animal Planet
“BBQ Pit Masters” on TLC
“Beast Legends” on SyFy. This week they will be tackling the “Fire Dragon.” I was unaware that “Fire Dragons” deserved their own classification apart from “Dragons,” because aren’t they all kind of the same thing? I’m a bad geek, aren’t I? I should probably just know this. Maybe if I watch Reign of Fire again I can figure it out.
“Come Dine with Me” on BBCA
“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” on FX. Sixth season premiere. Yay for all of you who are fans! Me, not so much, but I know a lot of you are so you should enjoy the hell out of this and I’ll just sit over here being happy for you.
“The Squad” on A&E. First season finale.
“Stan Lee’s Superhumans” on History
“You’re Wearing That?!?” on WE
10:30pm: “The League” on FX. Second season premiere.
“On the Road with Austin and Santino” on Lifetime
11:00pm: “I Love Money” on VH1. Fourth season premiere.
