Pajiba After Dark: This Is a Sport
This Sunday offers a nice variety of shows that absolutely no one was asking for. We have the premiere of “Hillbilly Handfishin’” which is actually about the technique of catching catfish that I always thought was called “noodling” but I guess that might be a somewhat confusing title. Also, where I hail from “hillbilly” is considered a pejorative term. Maybe Animal Planet is trying to turn that around. Also tonight we have a “Behind the Music” on Adam Lambert, a young man whose entire career has taken place in view of a television camera, that show where people air their relationship’s dirty laundry on TV, that show with ‘addiction’ in the title that isn’t really about actual addictions, and several other shows that seem to exist only to piss me and other people capable of thought off. I’m just a basket full of goddamn rainbows tonight. Here’s your Sunday night TV:
7:00pm: “Dateline NBC” on NBC
“Grand Canyon Serenade” on PBS
“Sand Masters” on Travel
“Teen Spirit” on ABC Family. This is a movie where a girl whose only ambition in life was to be prom queen is killed in a freak accident (totally family friendly!) and her spirit is tasked with turning the least popular girl in the school into prom queen. Naturally, the least popular girl in school is still thin and pretty, but she likes making claymation films and dresses in things other than mini skirts and tank tops so OBVIOUSLY she’s the recipient of unending scorn. Oh, and she totally doesn’t care about being prom queen until the dead one is all “But I can help you get the attention of your crush!” because overhauling your personality is always the best path to a healthy and fulfilling relationship. I’m getting too old for this shit, clearly. Get off my lawn.
8:00pm: “Ty’s Great British Adventure 2011” on ABC
“Big Brother” on CBS
“Curiosity” on Discovery. Series premiere.
“Food Network Challenge: Renaissance Festival Cakes” on Food Network. This could actually be a fun challenge if they could only use era appropriate ingredients and tools which might happen because the episode site promises “a twist” but I’m not getting my hopes up.
“Teen Choice Awards 2011” on Fox
“Jerseylicious” on Style
“Barbra Streisand - One Night Only at the Village Vanguard” on PBS
“Season 25: Oprah Behind the Scenes” on OWN
“Sunday Best” on BET
9:00pm: “Bait Car” on TruTV
“Big Rich Texas” on Style
“Bridezillas” on WE
“Celebrity Rehab with Dr.Drew” on VH1
“Curiosity” on Discovery
“Drop Dead Diva” on Lifetime
“Falling Skies” on TNT. Two hour first season finale. Anyone still watching this? How is Dr.Carter: Adventure Librarian doing these days?
“The Glee Project” on Oxygen
“Ice Road Truckers” on History
“The Marriage Ref” on NBC
“The Next Food Network Star” on Food Network
“Same Name” on CBS. This week’s same name is “Mike Tyson” at least one of which has a publicist who is working very hard to make everyone forget his client’s ear biting, sexual assaulting past. I’m sure the other Mike Tyson is a lovely man.
“True Blood” on HBO
9:30pm: “Into the Universe with Stephen Hawking” on Discovery
“Peter, Paul & Mary: Carry It On, A Musical Legacy Yarrow Sing-Along Special” on PBS
10:00pm “Against the Wall” on Lifetime
“Behind the Music: Adam Lambert” on VH1
