Tonight there is the premiere of a new sketch comedy show, a genre I didn’t realize was something people still did on the basis that those kind of shows keep failing except for “Saturday Night Live” which seems to be kept around just so people can talk about how awesome it used to be and how much it sucks now, a tradition that I’m pretty sure dates back to the second season of the show. This new show, “In the Flow with Affion Crockett” loses points immediately because that’s a dumb name and things only go downhill from there as you find out that the titular Crockett got his start on “Nick Cannon Presents: Wild ‘N Out.” I’m slightly bewildered as to how a bit player on an MTV series now has his own show on Fox but I guess that’s why I’m not a TV executive. Here’s your Sunday night TV:
7:00pm: “I.Am.FIRST: Science is Rock and Roll” on ABC. Here we have an example of something sort of awesome mixed with something sort of extremely annoying. This is a special taking a close look at the 20th annual FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Championship which is a worldwide science and robotics K-12 competition. That’s the awesome part. The annoying part is that it’s hosted by Will.i.Am of the Black Eyed Peas and features performances by said Peas and Willow Smith. But hey, I guess anything that makes science and robotics look cool to the young’ins is a win, right?
