I Just Found Evidence That Procedural Characters are Interchangeable!

We’ve reached the point in the summer where I get twitchy and restless with all the nothing and tend to start random projects just to keep myself busy. I’m assuming those of you with children of an age to be on summer vacation are beginning to encounter the same phenomena and from my own personal experiences and those of my siblings, I’m betting we’re getting to the point where if your beloved offspring said to you “I’m gonna paint a target on the lawn and then try and jump my bike off the roof so I land on it” the immediate response would not be “Hell no” or “Why?” or even “Just remember to wear a helmet” but more along the lines of “If you land on my tomato plants I will finish whatever that fall starts.” Here’s what’s available for distraction purposes this evening:

8:00pm: “The Bachelorette” on ABC

“Kid in a Candy Store” on Food Network

“Lie to Me” on Fox

“The Secret Life of the American Teenager” on ABC Family

8:30pm: “Kid in a Candy Store” on Food Network. First season finale.

9:00pm: “American Pickers” on History

“The Best Thing I Ever Ate” on Food Network

“Cake Boss” on TLC. The episode is called “Key to the City and a Key-Tar Cake” which makes me think of Cobra Starship because they have a song called “The City is at War” which prominently features key-tar but really I shouldn’t be thinking of them at all because that band was mostly worthless after they did the “Snakes on a Plane” song and it’s not even the same line up as it was for the “Snakes on a Plane” song so I don’t think they should call themselves Cobra Starship anymore. None of this has anything to do with “Cake Boss” as far as I know.

“The Closer” on TNT

“Dr.G: Medical Examiner” on Health

“The Good Guys” on Fox

“HBO Special: Homeless: The Motel Kids of Orange County” on HBO. Special presentation.

“Huge” on ABC Family

“Intervention” on A&E

“Last Comic Standing” on NBC

“History Detectives” on PBS

“RuPaul’s Drag U” on Logo

“Top Gear” on BBCA. Fifth season premiere.

“Ultimate Car Build-Off” on Discovery

“WWE: Raw” on USA. Apparently, given that I was corrected with regards to the correct terminology regarding The Nexus last week, we have a wrestling fan in the audience! Welcome! I’m sure you can find some common ground with the other readers with regards to your appreciation of beefy, sweaty guys grappling with each other while wearing glorified speedos.

9:30pm: “Operation Repo” on TruTV

“Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory” on MTV

10:00pm: “Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations” on Travel. Mr.Bourdain will be in Kerala, India tonight.

“Chasing Classic Cars” on Discovery

“Dance Your Ass Off” on Oxygen

“Dateline: NBC” on NBC

“Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” on Food Network

“Fabulous Cakes” on TLC

“The Hard Times of RJ Berger” on MTV

“James May’s Toy Stories” on BBCA

“Obsessed” on A&E

“Turmoil and Triumph: The George Shultz Years: Swords to Plowshares” on PBS

“The Real Housewives of New Jersey” on Bravo

“Rizzoli and Isles” on TNT. I’ve watched both episodes of this so far and I don’t hate it. I’d not hate it a lot more if the coroner lady (pretty sure that’s Isles) didn’t act quite so much like a slightly more sophisticated but just as socially clueless knock off of Temperance Brennan of Bones.

“20/20: Special Edition of 20/20: The Stories Behind the Rose” on ABC. Starting at 10:02pm for those who are interested.

10:30pm: “Neighbors From Hell” on TBS. First season finale.

“Warren the Ape” on MTV

Late Night Listings

“The Late Show with David Letterman” on CBS featuring Denis Leary, Albert Pujols, and Jimmy Webb

“The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on NBC featuring Bill O’Reilly, Adam Shankman, and Lyle Lovett

“Jimmy Kimmel Live” on ABC featuring Johnny Knoxville, Amanda Crew, and Grace Potter & the Nocturnals

“The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” on CBS featuring Steve Carrell, and She & Him

“Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on NBC featuring Kevin Kline, Chace Crawford, and Hanson

“The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” on Comedy Central featuring William Rosen

“The Colbert Report” on Comedy Central featuring Hephzibah Anderson
