Being home for the summer means attempting to take back my chair from our cats who appropriate it for their own purposes when I’m not around. Unfortunately, their response to finding me sitting in the chair working on my laptop is usually to sit on top of me and occasionally on top of the computer. I am, right now, writing this column without being able to see my keyboard because there is a cat in the way, kneading my stomach which has a protective layer of towel over it because otherwise her wee claws go through to my skin and leave tiny little pin holes all over my torso. It’s an attractive look. Here’s tonight’s TV, from both the cat and I:
7:00 p.m.: “60 Minutes” on CBS.
“Dateline NBC” on NBC.
“Sons of Tucson” on Fox.
8:00 p.m.: “Big Brother” on CBS.
“Discovery Special: Powering the Future: Striking a Balance” on Discovery. One hour special presentation.
“Food Network Challenge: Food Landscapes” on Food Network. These Food Network challenges are getting lamer and lamer, but I guess there’s only so many times you can watch someone build a six foot tall sugar sculpture and then be forced to walk it over a little bridge specifically designed to result in heartbreaking destruction.
“Revenge of the Bridesmaids” on ABC Family. Original Telefilm.
9:00 p.m.: “Bridezillas” on WE.
“Discovery Special: Powering the Future: Leading the Charge” on Discovery. One hour special presentation.
“Drop Dead Diva” on Lifetime.
“Ice Road Truckers” on History.
“Leverage” on TNT.
“Masterpiece!: Poirot X: The Third Girl” on PBS.
“The Next Food Network Star” on Food Network.
“Ocho Cinco” on VH1.
“Scoundrels” on ABC.
“True Blood” on HBO. I only see the clips of this that hit the internet after the episode, but I’d just like to say the big beefy guy who plays the werewolf? Hot. Way hotter than the one vampire dude. Not necessarily the other, but it’s a close call.
10:00 p.m.: “24 Hour Restaurant Battle” on Food Network. Series premiere on a special night. Hey, it’s one of the challenges from “Top Chef” turned into its own show!
“Army Wives” on Lifetime.
“The Gates” on ABC.
“The Glades” on A&E.
“Hung” on HBO.
“Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami” on E!
“Las Vegas Jailhouse” on TruTV.
“The Real L Word” on Showtime.
“Strange Sex” on TLC. Series premiere. The episode title is “Cougars and Cubs” which doesn’t sound like it’ll be strange, really, more like a rehash of every lame “cougar” joke that was funny for about two minutes after the term was first coined.
“The TO Show” on VH1. Time slot premiere.
“Top Shot” on History.
10:30 p.m.: “Children’s Hospital” on Adult Swim.
“Entourage” on HBO.
“Holly’s World” on E!
“Las Vegas Jailhouse” on TruTV.
“PBS Special: PBS Preview: Circus” on PBS.
“Strange Sex” on TLC. This one is called “Unusual Orgasms” and it seems I’m swiftly heading towards Dr. Pisaster’s territory so I’ll stop there.
11:00 p.m.: “Russel Simmons Presents: Stand Up at the El Rey” on Comedy Central
11:30 p.m.: “The Boondocks” on Adult Swim.
12:00 a.m.: “Squidbillies” on Adult Swim. Fifth season finale.
