We’ve got two CMT shows premiering tonight, both of which seem to be rather blatant knock offs of other reality series which just leaves me further convinced that there are too many television channels and yet there seems to be no end to the creation of new ones. Which leads me to wonder; what would your ideal television channel be? And doesn’t the internet sort of already fill that purpose? If you like Animal Planet you’ll love YouTube, featuring as many videos of cute animals as you can stand and all catered to your particular desires. Love those “Stupidest Videos Part 74638” shows? Same deal. Those of you without my hang-ups about watching non-legally licensed material have even more options at your disposal. But we are talking about television so if you COULD program a TV channel for a day, what would you pick? While you’re thinking about that, here’s your Thursday night TV:
8:00pm: “So You Think You Can Dance” on Fox
“Wipeout” on ABC
9:00pm: “Big Brother” on CBS
“Burn Notice” on USA. The commercials for this crack me up a bit because they’re obviously filmed at this parking garage which is also an event space but… still. Parking garage. Think about that the next time you’re watching Michael and Fiona stalking around in slow-mo trying to look bad ass.
“Expedition Impossible” on ABC
“The First 48” on A&E
“Swamp People” on History
“Sweet Home Alabama” on CMT. Series premiere. I can’t find a way in which this show is not “The Bachelorette” other than the setting so… there you go.
“Tattoo School” on TLC
10:00pm: “Extreme Chef” on Food Network
“The First 48” on A&E
“Futurama” on Comedy Central
“Love Bites” on NBC
“NY Ink” on TLC
“The Real Housewives of New York City” on Bravo
“Rookie Blue” on ABC
“Suits” on USA
“Texas Women” on CMT. Series premiere. As someone who has only now, at age 24, truly experienced ‘big hair’ for the first time in my life I would like to say that I don’t get it. Not even a little bit. The whole procedure makes me want to pet my hair and whisper to it gently that I know it hurts but I promise I have a deep conditioning treatment standing by as soon as this whole project is over with.
“True Life” on MTV
“Wilfred” on FX
10:30pm: “Louie” on FX
“Ugly Americans” on Comedy Central
“Watch What Happens” on Bravo
12:00am: “Children’s Hospital” on Adult Swim
Late Night Listings
“The Late Show with David Letterman” on CBS featuring Kyra Sedgwick, Tim Harmston, and Nikki Jean
“The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on NBC featuring Don Rickles, Bristol Palin, and Colbie Caillat
“The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” on CBS featuring Zooey Deschanel and Jim Cummings
“Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on NBC featuring Bob Saget, Neil deGrasse Tyson, and James Blake
“The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” on Comedy Central featuring Sgt. 1st Class Leroy Petry
“The Colbert Report” on Comedy Central featuring Jose Antonio Vargas
